Following the securing of funding from a trust fund, we have recruited a dedicated Service User Involvement Co-ordinator.
Worthing Churches Homeless Projects recognise that Service User involvement is paramount to the success of our charity and to ensure that we are providing services according to client needs. The Service User Involvement Co-ordinator will undertake work outside the remit of the current project workers who work on a one to one basis with the clients.
The Service User Involvement Co-ordinator looks at the many and varied needs of our clients and organises events and opportunities to enhance life skills and encourage increased self confidence. The Service User Co-ordinator will work with all of our clients from those visiting the day centre to some of those who have moved on into independent accommodation, to try and prevent the revolving door syndrome.
This new role will be conducive to achieving a better quality of services, will promote inclusion, enhance self-esteem and will create a sense of ownership. The Service User Co-ordinator will work to help our clients become economically and socially included within our community and society by sourcing training, activities, volunteering and employment opportunities. They will be responsible for linking people with social networks and activities to enhance a sense of belonging to the community, this is particularly important for individuals who are preparing to move into independent living. Research shows that formerly homeless people who have formed positive social networks have a greater chance of successful resettlement and are less likely to experience repeated homelessness.
Individuals will have a greater involvement in policy forming, service delivery and development. The Service User Involvement Co-ordinator will advocate on behalf of clients within the organisation.
