For the last five years I lived a very unsettled life, moving around from Wales to Ireland, sometimes sofa surfing, sometimes homeless. One day I woke up in a police cell due to alcohol and medication prescribed for post traumatic stress.
In 2006 someone made a telephone call on my behalf to Worthing Churches Homeless Project, which I personally feel was the turning point.
Being in the project has allowed me to focus on a future I did not think I had. Not only was I given a roof over my head and food in my mouth, I was given respect and understanding.
At this point in time as I prepare to move on to independence, I am sober and free of medication for over a year, am in further education and involved in volunteer work.
Without the support and guidance that I have had and continue to have, I believe all this would not have been possible.
My heartfelt thanks go to Worthing Churches homeless project.
