The Growing Support of WCHP’s Volunteers
WCHP are lucky to have such a dedicated, caring and talented group of volunteers. The help and support our volunteers bring to WCHP has a huge positive impact, not only on the charity but also in the community.
Over the last 12 months as the number of WCHP volunteers have increased (current figure 295, 4 years ago the figure was 120), so have the roles that they play within the charity. An organic evolution during the breakfast sessions at our Community Hubs has led to the introduction of Client Motivation and Engagement Volunteers. This role was born from the warmth and caring nature of WCHP’s volunteers. This has resulted in additional support to the clients accessing the breakfast session in the form of community support and community inclusion, in turn this ensures that the needs of the clients accessing these sessions are met.
This progression paves the way for volunteering with WCHP to evolve even further, over the coming months a handful of volunteers will be involved in piloting WCHP’s Mentoring and Befriending Project, with support from our Community Inclusion Lead, the volunteers will provide a friendly ear, additional community engagement and support to clients, helping them to become integrated and embedded in their local community.
Beyond this, volunteer involvement with WCHP has many opportunities, the introduction of the Partnership and Coproduction Team (PACT), opens the door for volunteers to be involved with the development of new and existing services, the development of volunteer roles and opportunities and much more.
It is most definitely an exciting time to be involved with WCHP Volunteers, if you are not yet involved but would like to join us in this journey please contact WCHP’s Volunteer Team by calling 01903 680743 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
