Flexible – 1 session approximately 2 hours per fortnight from Spring through to Autumn.
Hours to be flexible but agreed, team will need to be aware of volunteer hours.
This 15 bed project provides short term supported accommodation, assessing the needs of individuals and exploring housing options.
It acts as the primary accommodation response to rough sleeping within the local community, working with some of the most complex need cases. A holistic approach is used, and residents will work in partnership with their key worker, the whole staff team and local agencies on a personalised route out of homelessness.
Prep, tend and maintain the modest borders of our Short Term Assessment Hostel. Helping to create a smart and welcoming appearance for the Project.
To carry out some initial prep work to the borders and small green space at our Short Term Assessment Hostel.
To purchase plants with Project funds in agreement with Service Manager.
To plant and maintain the gardens throughout the seasons.
Additional requirements to be adhered to at all times:
• To communicate with staff on duty.
• To be flexible to the needs of the staff member on duty if these dictate that the duties of the Volunteer change slightly during the shift.
• To abide by the Confidentiality and Professional Boundaries Policies at all times.
• To maintain at all times the Christian Ethos of WCHP, offering equal access to services regardless of gender, race, colour, religion, sexual orientation, nationality or ethnic origin, educational status or disability.
Initial prep and planting work will need to be carried out. Following this, the hours and times can be flexible. Approximately 2 to 3 hours per fortnight.
The project team will need to know agreed hours prior to volunteer attendance, however these can be flexible from morning, afternoon or evening.
Role likely to be required between Spring and Autumn.
Our Short Term Assessment Hostel is staffed 24 hours a day, so there will always be staff on duty to assist volunteers if necessary, however staff will not be able to assist with gardening duties.
This Volunteer Role will be an independent role, but could be completed with a partner or friend. This is fine so long as they also register as a volunteer with WCHP.
Equipment will be provided.
Occasionally residents from our Project may wish to assist with the gardening duties.
This role would ideally suit an individual with an interest in gardening.
Please note this role will require two character references.
Professional boundary and confidentiality training will be covered during the induction meeting.
