Initially from St Clare’s Day Centre. 6-8 Marine Place, Worthing, BN11 3DN
Then to walk from centre throughout Worthing.

Flexible – 1 session per fortnight, approximately 2 hours.
Exact times to be agreed before volunteering commences.

Project Background:
St Clare’s Day Centre is open Monday to Saturday throughout the year and offers a drop in service for anyone who needs access to our services. A breakfast service is available every morning.
St Clare’s Day Centre hosts the local rough sleeper’s team, which is a multi-agency approach to end rough sleeping in the town. The team incorporates assertive outreach and local intelligence and pulls together resources to find, offer and implement solutions.
Services include hot and cold food, showers, clothing, laundry, I.T. provision, advice, information and signposting. The service is a referral route into local supported housing. The service is also a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Role Purpose:
To set up and run a fortnightly walking group for clients.

Main duties:
To set up and run a fortnightly walking group for clients to attend.
To liaise with the Team at St Clare’s, so they are able to keep the clients informed of the group, and promote the group.
To arrange routes for the group to walk.

Additional requirements to be adhered to at all times:

• To communicate with staff on duty.
• To be flexible to the needs of the staff member on duty if these dictate that the duties of the Volunteer change slightly during the shift.
• To abide by the Confidentiality and Professional Boundaries Policies at all times.
• To maintain at all times the Christian Ethos of WCHP, offering equal access to services regardless of gender, race, colour, religion, sexual orientation, nationality or ethnic origin, educational status or disability.

Initial meeting with the team at St Clare’s will be required. Role will be flexible following this, days/ times to be agreed, but likely to be 2-3 hours one regular afternoon per fortnight.

Support offered:
Professional boundaries training and confidentiality training will take place during the induction meeting. Our Lone Working Policy will also be discussed an explained during the induction meeting.
The group can begin and end at St Clare’s where staff will be on hand to assist with any issues or concerns.
Extra training available, including basic first aid training.

This role would ideally suit an individual with an interest in walking.
Please note this role will require two character references.
