Every year Worthing Churches Homeless Projects helps around 450 people. We simply could not run all of our services as effectively without the dedication of our loyal Volunteers who are involved in everything from cooking, to gardening, admin and hairdressing.

We are currently looking for:

Charity Shop Assistants: Helping at our town centre shop in Montague Street or our shop on Strand Parade you will be part of the public face of Worthing Churches Homeless Projects. Duties could include serving customers at the till, accepting and sorting through donations, polishing or cleaning bric-a-brac, ironing donations of clothing and helping to create a warm and friendly shopping environment. Monday to Saturday 9:30 – 13:00 or 13:00 -16:30. Previous Charity Shop or other retail experience is welcomed but not essential as full training will be provided.

Breakfast Cook or Assistant: From 8:30am at St Clare's Day Centre. Cooking or assisting with the preparation of a traditional hot breakfast using the food recourses available. Making and serving teas and coffees, washing up and leaving the kitchen area in a clean and tidy state. We sometimes require an experienced and confident Breakfast Volunteer to assist at the Day Centre's front desk which would involve asking Clients to sign in and reporting any sightings of alcohol or drugs. Breakfast Volunteers work in a small team usually with one person cooking and 2/3 others carrying out the other duties.
We are currently looking for people who may be able to help on weekends and Mondays

Evening Meal Cook: Based at our Byron Road Project from 5pm the Cook will work independently to make nutritious hot meals for the residents using the food resources available, and making sure that the kitchen is left in a clean and tidy state after you have finished. Sometimes Volunteers may wish to cook the meal with a friend or partner, this is fine as long as both people have registered as Volunteers with us.
We are currently looking for people to help on the 1st Thursday of each month.

Van Driver: Being part of a rota driving the WCHP van and picking up items that have been donated to us, including furniture. Also delivering larger Charity Shop items to peoples homes. Duties may also include helping to move items between WCHP Projects. Volunteer drivers may be accompanied by other Volunteers, including current WCHP Clients who will help load and unload the vehicle.
